Athletic History:
I was always an active kid, growing up in the Sierra Nevada mountains I was always swimming, biking, climbing, or running somewhere. I swam competitively from Kindergarten through High School, and did track and cross country through 8th grade. During High School, volleyball was my passion but I really fell in love with running while training for the volleyball season.
I entered my first 10K my sophomore year of college and continued to run in local 5 & 10ks throughout college. My last year at Fresno State I joined the Fresno State Triathlon club and started competing. My first Triathlon was the Shaver Lake Triathlon, just 15 miles from my hometown of Big Creek, CA. I won the Sprint distance race riding my mountain bike, and never looked back.
I continued to race sprint distance triathlons the rest of 2004, in 2005 I did my first Olympic distance triathlon and my first marathon. By 2006 I was training for my second marathon, and my first half-ironman. 2007 brought along new challenges as I signed up for Ironman Coeur d’Alene. I finished IM CDA with a time of 12:47:32, and couldn’t wait to go faster.
2008 I raced Ironman Arizona (November) and finished in 12:15:00. Attempted to go sub 12 at Ironman Coeur d’Alene in 2010 and finished in 12:40:37 which is still a course PR (there’s always a silver lining). I’m signed up for IM # four – Ironman Lake Tahoe and I can’t wait to get up there and race my heart out.
