sloooowly!

i’ve been trying to keep up with some actually triathlon-ish training lately. actually setting goals, actually putting workouts on the ol’ workout calendar.  it’s been nice, i feel like i’m actually kinda getting back in shape.  last week the goal was to run 15 miles, bike 40 miles, and get in water.

i literally did just that too. i got in my brother’s pool and flailed around with his black lab puppy Jack.  i got my 15 miles of running in, even running with the sierra challenge express running club (which i’ve completely abandoned over the past 5 months). coach made fun of me for sandbagging, for running so slow,  and in actuality i was killing myself. (so sad) i rode my bike to work, and around town a bit, and then had a “real ride” where i rode to sherry’s roadhouse (30miles).  10 miles into it i remembered i wasn’t in shape and had to slow down!

this past week i upped the ante a little.  the goals were to swim 4times this week. ride 50 miles (1x ride to work and 1x 40 mile ride), and run18 miles (2 five mile runs, and an 8 mile run).  i swam twice, the first day i was nearly drowning in a 50 meter pool, it was VERY painful.  lots of slow 100′s and lots of wall hanging, then painful jelly-arms, my second day of swimming was WAY more fun, i actually felt like i was swimming and actually getting a workout in. i did 1500 yards, woot woot!

my long bike was fun and uneventful. i tried to just take it easy, and only got a little distracted by a slow man who kept trying to pass me.  he said something about his heartrate when i flew by him for the third time on a huge hill. lame.  my little legs were pretty tired and i knew i had my big 8 mile run the next day.

yesterday was the big 8 mile run. i was supposed to meet friends at 5 am to beat the heat, but woke up exactly at 5 am, and if i’m going to miss the run group, then i’m sleeping in. 7:15 am i hit the park running, and exactly 2 miles into it, i really wished i’d gone with the group-o as it was HOT HOT HOT, and my legs hurt REAL bad. i thought for sure at 2.44 miles i was at about 6 miles, sadly i wasn’t.  it was a sufferfest for sure.  finally i made it to 4.45 miles and i was REALLY close to where i parked, i thought i should probably call it a morning as i felt like dying and throwing-up and my legs hurt.  i decided to take a gel and some water and then see how i felt.  i definitely started feeling better, met up with some just us girls girls, and was able to finish up my 8 miles with some company!

i headed straight for starbucks got my coffee and a huge water that i immediately spilled all over the counter/floor/and myself.  at least it wasn’t the coffee…
