The life of Katymoe has been pretty interesting lately. Lots of new stuff going on. The most exciting and time consuming of all these “new things” is Arizona. My new puppy! I’ve had her now for about three weeks and we have been having way too much fun!
I also this past month took up Bikram or Hot Yoga. Which is a super fun challenge for my tight, over-run-bike-swam body. Basically it’s 90 minutes of yoga in a room heated to about 100 degrees. I can tell you one thing and that is that you SWEAT in this class! phew! I really really love it, and would love to incorporate it into my training, but finding time for everything is pretty tough. I did a few Bikram classes after a run or bike ride and I barely made it through class. On a typical day I drink about 2 liters of water before AND after class. I really think it would be a fantastic off season workout, but right now while I’m trying to build up to (maybe) race I think it’s too much. If you are interested in trying it out though, check out www.bluemoonyogafresno.com.
In triathlon news, there are a couple races I’m looking into. There is the Splash ‘n Dash at Millerton Lake May 30th, which is a 400 yard swim and 3 mile run. I’ve done this race before and it’s lots of fun. There is the Mermaid Triathlon in Fremont, CA June 7th. This is an all women’s, FUN event. I haven’t committed to this one yet. The big race I’m leaning towards doing this season is Barb’s Race http://www.vineman.com/Barb_s_Race.htm this is an all women’s Half Ironman distance (ouch) event. Barb’s race also raises funds for breast cancer research which of course is very cool.
This past week I did a little “focused triathlon training” again, ouch. My goals were 15 miles of running, 40 miles of cycling, and to get in a swimming pool. 🙂 (baby steps). I actually ended up cycling about 55-60 miles. It was fun to have goals, and it was really nice to have some structure to my life again. I think I’m going to do it……I mean sign up for Barb’s Race. Half Ironman Fit….here I come!!
